Now the interesting thing is you can’t use these artifacts until you have unlocked the Witches in the game. These artifacts are high rarity items that increase the power of your weapon massively. To unlock the first Witch Elowen, you need to follow the main story questline until you reach chapter 5 Guest Unbidden.

How to Unlock the The First Witch Elowen in Crimson Dessert
After taming the horse and talking it to the stable you will defeat a large gorilla shape monster Kearush the Slayer. Defeating him won’t be easy task but once done talk to Damiane outside. She will tell you that the beast isn’t the only thing Bastier sent and there are other monsters as well.
Right after the conversation the quest is updated with The Missing Seal. The objective is to read the unsealed letter from the inventory. The letter is from the White Witch that says:
Recently, an unworthy one has crossed over from the Abyss. This is the sign that boundary between reality and the Abyss is slowly crumbling. What lies at the end….no one can predict.

After reading the letter you will unlock the quest Witch of Wisdom. There is total 5 witches that are hidden throughout Pywel. Now to unlock the first witch in Crimson Dessert head to the examine the house as pointed on the map.
Help the woman Tanya inside the house and she will ask you to visit her abode. And you will unlock the first witch Elowen after that just head to her house at the Witchwoods.
How to Harness Abyssal Power in Crimson Dessert (Abyss Gear Crafting)?
Once you have talked to Elowen, the first witch now you can craft the Abyss Gear.
From the Witch menu you can do the following:
- Embed Abyss Core
- Extract Abyss Core
- Create Socket
- Craft Abyss Core
- And Buy and Sell Abyss artifacts
