Starsand Island has over 10 pets you can adopt as companions including dogs, cats, fox, capybara etc. Players can befriend pets for affection hearts, home settling, and perks like passive item fetching or events.
Befriending and adopting pets boosts happiness but remember, some pets like the Booboo panda can only be your friend, you can’t adopt it in the normal way, instead you need to adopt it through feeding quests.
How to Befriend & Adopt Pets
To befriend and adopt pets you need to make daily interactions with them in Starsand Island. Visit the animal you wish to adopt daily, approach them and select them to start the first friendly conversation. Offer a compliment or pet them to show you’re friendly and interested.
After that you can do the following three actions:
- Feed
- Interact
- Adopt
To adopt a pet, you need to increase its affection toward your character to three hearts first. You raise affection by interacting with the animal and feeding it once per day. Each interaction helps build the bond required to unlock adoption. Once the friendship level reaches three hearts, you’ll see a dialogue option that lets you adopt the animal and bring it home with you.
Remember, not all pets are adoptable and can only be befriended in the wild. Also, you can simply go to a pet store and adopt a pet in exchange for coins. For example, the town’s pet shop (called Woof and Wow Pets) sells a puppy (Scrappy) and a kitten (Nana) that you can adopt immediately for 7500 coins.
Animals that can be adopted require certain foods they like/love. Feed an animal a food they love to earn 15 affection points. Meanwhile, feeding them a food they like earns 10 Affection Points.
As you discover their likes, dislikes, and other traits all of the information will be saved in your Social App.
