Exploration is at the heart of Everwind and since the map is pretty big, getting around on foot makes little sense. The best way to explore the world of Everwind is by building a flying ship. Yes, there is a way to craft a flying ship in Everwind.
It helps you travel faster, cover more ground in a small amount of time. While you can surely walk everywhere you want, getting the Everwind flying ship is fastest way to travel around the open world.
The flying ship is part of the “Learn Basics – Flying Ship” quest which guides you to the flying ship components needed to build it in Everwind. However, Everwind doesn’t really do much to tell you what to do toward the end of the flying ship tutorial quest.
That’s where I come in, read on!
How to Craft Your First Ship in Everwind

Everwind’s tutorial ends with the “Learn Basics – Flying Ship” quest. You need to have the flying ship ready in order to exit the Starter Island and sail between different islands.
Once you get the Wooden Steering Wheel from the chest in the starting dungeon, you can start building the chest. The quest will guide you outside the dungeon toward the destroyed ship on the island. Climb to a high point on your starting island and look for the destroyed Flying Ship on the beach (the quest marker usually points here).
When you reach the ship debris, scan it with your compass to get the flying ship blueprint. Everwind flying ship crafting recipe is as follow:
| Component | Materials Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cockpit | 6 Steamer Metal Scraps 10 Sticks 1 Steering Gear (salvaged) 1 Wooden Steering Wheel (salvaged) | Claims the ship & sets your respawn point |
| Energy Generator | 12 Steamer Metal Scraps 10 Forestwood Planks 16 Copper Nails 20 Rocks | Powers everything; one generator supports up to 3 components |
| Wooden Engine | 4 Steamer Metal Scraps 9 Forestwood Planks 10 Sticks 4 Rope 1 Rotor (salvaged) | Forward/backward thrust |
| Wooden Balloon | 10 Cloth 8 Rope 6 Steamer Metal Scraps 4 Balloon Attachments (salvaged) | Vertical lift |
Pro Tip: Punch or break everything in the wreck for extra Steamer Metal Scraps and resources.
All crafting materials you need to build your first flying ship in Everwind are on the starter island. As long as you loot everything along the way, you’ll have more than enough to start crafting the ship.
Crafting the flying ship in Everwind starts with crafting the materials required for it Ship’s parts must be crafted using the list of items I shared above. And from there, once you have all the parts put them in the shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen for quick access.
Installing Ship Parts to the Flying Ship

When all ship parts are crafted the next step is to install them on the flying ship and get it running. But you actually need a ship to get this to work. Take the free boat that spawns near the entrance of the starting stone tower, or craft your own if needed.
Sail into the open waters and claim the free flying boat which we will turn into an airship in Everwind. Place the four essential parts we crafted onto this ship to build yourself a flying ship in Everwind. The entire process can be summoned up as follows:
- Find and scan ship debris
- Craft essential parts
- Use the free boat to reach the flying ship in the ocean
- Install airship parts
Interact with the energy generator and add fuel such as wood, sticks, or logs into the input slot. Activate the generator to start the fire and you’ll be ready to fly the ship.
How to Upgrade Your Everwind Ship
The flying ship will be very basic in the beginning, but it can be upgraded as we go. You can add more engines, balloons, and generators of the ship. Early size starts small at roughly 9 by 9 by 9 blocks but can grow significantly with investment.
