Our wholesome alien in Roadside Research runs a Gas Station and the more customers he gets, the dirtier the establishment becomes. Floors in the store get dirty over time as humans bring in their shoes and throw garbage all over the place.
It is up to you to clean the trash out to avoid unhappy customers in Roadside Research. You need to take care of the trash, stains, and Gloop Spills.

Cleaning Floors, Stains, Skid Marks, and Goop Spills
These appear as dirty marks (from customer shoes/mud), colorful puddles (your alien “poop” or death goop), or high-traffic grime. Common spots: store entrance, cash register, shelves/aisles, steps, pavement, and gas pumps.
A mess can be spotted visually, through customer dissatisfaction icon (frowning face), or sounds. To clean, go to the bathroom and interact with a sponge boot (shoe sponge) on the wall to pick it up. Head to the location of the spill or stains and hold the left mouse button (LMB) to rapidly swipe/drag back and forth or in circles over the mess to clean in.
Tip: Drop cleaned boots near pumps or register for quick access (they respawn in bathroom daily).
Continue until bubbles appear, you hear squeaking, white stars form, and the area sparkles clean. Clean goop immediately (matches your alien color) to prevent slips/suspicion. Outdoor gas pump areas need extra attention so leave a boot nearby.
How to Get Rid of Handle Trash
Apart from stains trash is the biggest issue if you want to keep the Gas Station Clean. Trash includes cans, wrappers, bottles etc. and it gathers near pumps or after busy periods of the day.
Pick up trash one-by-one (or use trash bags for multiples). Carry to the yellow recycler in the alien room (back of store) and throw it in for Alien Points. You can also throw trash into the large bin behind the Gas Station, but you won’t get any Alien Points from it. However, some trash like empty containers can’t be researched so throw them in the large bin outside or smaller green bins inside the store.
Place smaller bins all over the store, you can Research bins for 300 Research Points and get trash bags for 50 Research Points.
Tip: Full bins cause more litter; self-cleaning upgrade helps but raises suspicion.
Customers throw trash everywhere so to be thorough you must check behind counters, water dispensers, and near the pumps. Keep your trash bins empty because customers will litter again when they the bins are full.
How to Remove Removing Stench/Toxic Clouds
Green clouds over toilets, gas pumps, or floors indicate stench in Roadside Research. Pick up the shoe sponge from the bathroom and hold the LMB to swipe over the cloud/area (toilets or under cars at pumps) until the cloud is gone.
You will see similar clouds over full trash bins until you throw the trash out.
