Finding ammo in Marathon is a problem early on because it is so scarce. Meanwhile, the enemies are tough which makes it hard to manage ammo. You can end up burning through multiple clips fast while taking on other players, and especially bosses like the Trace Commander.
So where do you find more ammo in Marathon? There are some ways you can get more ammo in each run and in this guide, I’ll break down everything for you.
Where to Get Ammo in Marathon
Marathon’s UI is a bit complicated, especially for players not familiar with Bungie’s Destiny. It is easy to look over the fact that you can actually buy ammo from the armor in Marathon. Once you have accepted your first contract and unlocked the CyberAcme faction, you can go to the Armory tab and select Cyberacme.
In the shop you can find ammo section and buy stacks of more ammo for your weapons in Marathon before each run begins. The cost of ammo is high, so you’ll need to have a ton of credits to get multiple stacks.
Additionally, you can craft multiple types of rounds in Marathon. Below is a list of all types of ammo in Marathon:
- Light Rounds
- Heavy Rounds
- MIPS
- Volt Battery
- Volt Cell
However, you can only craft light, heavy, and Volt Cell ammo. Ammo can also be crafted before a deployment at the CyberAcme Armory.
Some ammo types require specific materials:
- Light Rounds – crafted using Unstable Gunmetal
- Heavy Rounds – crafted using Unstable Lead
- Volt Batteries – crafted using Unstable Gel
These materials are found while looting locations across the maps, then used to craft ammo between runs. But know that ammo can not be crafted during a raid. Everything you need to do about ammo must be done before you deploy.
Lastly, some loadouts or sponsored kits include ammo crates, which provide additional ammo stacks during a run.
A recent patch even increased the starting ammo in free sponsored kits, showing that ammo supply is an important balancing factor in the game.
