Starsand Island‘s iron ore is the resource that is your gateway to getting Iron Ingots. Using these items, you can then make tool upgrades like Cutter II and Impact Pickaxe, vehicle blueprints, building expansions, and profession progression (Crafter quests with Zerina).
Found only in the Moonlit Forest’s Dreamfall Garden and Crystalith Hideout, these darker gray rocks respawn daily for efficient iron ore farming. You need one of the following Pickaxes to mine Iron Ores:

How to Get Iron in Starsand Island
The best location to get Iron Ores is Dreamfall Garden area of Moonlit Forest. You can spot Iron deposits when you see darker gray protrusions on rocks. Approach such rocks and press the right trigger to hammer the rock with a pickaxe to mine Iron.
Iron Ores can then be turned into Iron Ingots via smelting to upgrade items like Impact Pickaxe, Impact Hammer, and Iron Sheets for Cutter II. Additionally, advanced blueprints require Iron Ingots (e.g., scooters, trucks), building upgrades like Workshop II, Furnace II, and a range of furniture.
Iron Ores respawn so to farm Iron Ore I recommend sleeping at camp and waiting till the next day. New Iron deposits appear daily in Starsand Island.
The farming meta is to fast travel to Dreamfall Garden and mine rocks at the entrance (5 nodes). Next, mine the path to Crystalith that has 5-7 nodes. After breaking the deposit, the iron ore drops onto the ground. Pick it up manually and add it to your inventory.
Head back to the camp and sleep to skip to the next day. Repeat the process until you have enough iron.
How to Unlock Smelting
The end goal of farming Iron Ores is to make Iron Ingots and that’s done via Furnace II. The furnace is unlocked when you progress in Zerina quests to reach the point where you unlock Workshop II and Furnace II Blueprints.
- Place iron ore in the furnace.
- Add fuel (wood or other burnable materials).
- Wait for the furnace to complete the smelting process.
- Collect the iron ingots once smelting finishes
