Mewgenics has its main campaign divided into multiple acts and each one has a set of areas to explore, cats to bread, figuring out the best class for your cats. Act 2 is the next big chunk of the game after Act 1 and introduces tougher encounters and new strategic considerations. Unlocking Act 2 doesn’t happen automatically. It is tied to clearing specific routes in Act 1 first.
The ACT 1 of Mewgenics has two branching routes you can take from the Starting Zone. The main progression path goes from The Alley into a choice between two routes:
- Alley → Sewers → Caves
- Alley → Junkyard → Boneyard
Each branch ends in an area that represents the end of the first Act. If you want to progress to Act 2, you need to finish both of these routes, it is the main requirement for unlocking Act 2 in Mewgenics.

How to Unlock Act 2, The Desert
The first is the Boneyard and you need to complete the Junkyard Route to unlock the Boneyard. You must start at the Ally and go through the Junkyard, and the completing the Boneyard. The Boneyard has multiple undead enemies that are more aggressive compared earlier ones you face in the game.
If you have the Hunter Class, which is recommended, use ranged attacks to clear out enemies. Boneyard ends when you beat Dybbuk boss fight.
The second route takes you to the Caves. This route also starts at the Alley, goes through the Sewers, and end in the Caves. Here you won’t find undead enemies and instead, you get web-based hazards and faster enemies.
To unlock Act 2, you need one successful clear in both routes:
- The Alley > The Sewers > The Caves > The Throbbing Domain
- The Alley > The Junkyard > The Boneyard > The Throbbing Domain
Clearing either path once is enough for that path, but both must be cleared on separate runs for Act 2 to unlock on the world map. Once you complete both routes, the game will give you access to Mewgenics’ Act 2.
In Act 2, you get access to the Desert.
The Desert is the first zone of Act 2 and leads into new areas within the act:
- Area 1: The Desert
- Area 2: The Crater OR The Bunker
- Area 3: The Moon OR The Core
- Secret Area: The Rift
Unlocking Act 2 gives you access to new classes and collars that you can unlock through clearing Act 2, including the Druid, Tinkerer, Butcher, and Psychic classes. These classes become available when you clear specific areas in Act 2 and talk to the NPC in your home base afterward.
The Desert in Act 2 brings new environmental mechanics like heat management and resource limitations. You’ll visit variations of areas lead into variants of mountainous, lunar, and bunker environments.
