As you explore the world of Everwind with your newly minted flying ships, you’ll come across a multitude of loot including locked chests. These locked chests require a special key to unlock which is where the problem lies. However, thankfully, the solution to locked chests is pretty simple. There is usually a skeleton nearby the locked chest and all you have to do is find it and loot the special key to unlock the chests.
However, in many cases there won’t be a skeleton around the chest or cupboard. There won’t be any way to open the chest other than to get a lockpick in Everwind.
Lockpicks in Everwind are very rare compared to special keys. But below I’ll explain exactly how to find a lockpick to unlock chests in Everwind.
Where to Find Lockpicks in Everwind
I have to be honest, finding lockpicks in Everwind is not easy. The main and only way to find lockpicks in Everwind is by exploration. Go out and search houses, abandoned buildings, tables, drawers, and containers all over the place. Lockpicks commonly spawn around tables or inside drawers so focus your efforts here.
Additionally, check wooden chests, the green-marked barrels in trade villages with green roofs. They also drop as random loot from containers or exploration in general.
Some NPCs especially merchants and city guards can sometimes drop lockpicks among other loot including repair kits, coins, or weapons. Early on this is a risky way to get lockpicks but as you level up and progress, getting lockpicks from NPCs becomes a viable option.
Early in the game, they’re scarce, you won’t find enough to open every locked chest you encounter, so prioritize high-value targets and come back later.
How to Open Locked Chests
Equip lockpicks on your hotbar (shortcut keys 1–9), then interact with a locked object (usually by pressing E). Everwind has no mini-game or skill tied to lockpicking because it is completely on chance. However, you can improve your chances by crafting Lockpicking Potion.
The lockpicking potion gives you a temporary luck boost to increase your chances of picking the chest lock. You need the following resources to craft the Lockpicking Potion in Everwind:
- Bell Flower
- Chanterelle
- Cone
I would recommend taking the lockpicking potion before using a lockpick. Because if you fail, you’ll lose the lockpick.
