Marathon takes a few notes from Destiny and Escape from Tarkov. The game is not just a chaotic multiplayer shooter but has objectives that you and your team must complete. One of the most annoying objectives in the game is “Trace Commander location at terminal South of South Relay.”
This objective is part of the Equitable Distribution questline that becomes available after you unlock the Traxus faction. Progress through the Equitable Distribution quest chain until you get the first Equitable Contribution contract.

Where to Find the Terminal
The terminal is inside a building on the far south of the map. The entrance to building is blocked by red force fields but you can use the ladder at the back of the building to enter through the roof. There is an alternate route as well; enter from below via the orange pipe on the left side. Shoot tripwires inside, then destroy 4 hidden batteries on walls/ceilings to disable forcefields/barriers.
But I highly recommend going in through the roof.
Inside you’ll find the Trace Commander Arrival terminal. Hold down the prompted button to activate it. As soon as the terminal is activated, a five-minute timer starts and at the end of the timer the commander will spawn.
How to Kill the Commander
Open your map to see a waypoint marks the UESC Commander’s spawn (often southwest corner of North Relay, but can be random). Commander is a tanky boss with high health, energy shield, and adds. The best course of action is to use cover, high ground, and headshots with heavy rifle.
It doesn’t take long to take down the Commander and his adds. Once he is down, make sure to loot his body to get the Commander’s Credentials.
As soon as you loot the Commander’s body, the final part of the Equal Distribution quest chain ends, ending the full contract. To get the rewards you need to visit the HQ.
