Menace: How to Repair and Mod Vehicles

repairing and modding vehicles in Menace

Vehicles play a huge role in establishing your dominance in the battlefield in Menace. However, over time vehicles will need repair but more then you need to make sure you get the best mods for your vehicles.

Menace is uses procedural generation to create a lot of its mods that go on vehicles. The problem with this mechanic is that players get random mods at different points of the game. For players who wish to mod their vehicles the procedural generation creates issues because it takes much longer to get a vehicle right for the battlefield.

The game does not clearly explain these systems, which often leads to damaged or underperforming vehicles later in the campaign.

Vehicle modification in Menace allows you to equip weapons and accessories before deploying on a mission. These upgrades directly affect combat effectiveness and tactical flexibility.

Where to Modify Vehicles in Menace

Vehicles in Menace can only be modified between missions during the preparation phase. To modify a vehicles return to your base and start mission preparation. Assign a pilot and select a vehicle and then equip weapons and accessories in the available slots.

Each vehicle supports a limited number of slots. The exact layout depends on the vehicle type. Usually there are two main weapon slots that you can use for mounted guns, cannons, or heavy weapons.

Secondly, you have accessory slots where support or enhancement modules go and these slots vary based on what vehicles you have. If you don’t see any small accessory slots under the weapons slot that means that particular vehicle does not support accessories or you don’t have a compatible item to go in those slots.

How to Get Vehicle Mods and Weapons

Vehicle modifications are not unlocked automatically. All weapons and accessories must be acquired during the campaign. The Black-market trader is accessible between missions. Items are randomized but he almost always sells vehicle weapons or accessories. Black Market trader’s inventory resets over time.

Checking the blackmarket regularly is the most reliable way to expand your vehicle options. Vehicle mods can also drop during missions.

  • Vehicle mods can drop as mission rewards
  • Loot pools are influenced by enemy factions
  • Drops are procedural and not guaranteed

Important: Note that a vehicle cannot modified or deployed without a pilot and if you don’t have one you can purchase a pilot dossier from the black market and assign the pilot during mission preparations. This is a requirement for vehicle modifications.

How Vehicle Repairs Work in Menace

Vehicles can only be repaired if you fulfil specific base infrastructure requirements. To repair vehicles you need to build a Repair Bay in one of the your ship’s empty hull slots. Without a repair bay vehicles can not be repaired and damage persists indefinitely.

Even successful mission won’t repair your vehicles. Repairs occur between missions, not manually during gameplay.

Each repair cycle:

  • Restores 30% of the vehicle’s total HP
  • Removes one defect
  • Does not fully heal severely damaged vehicles in one pass

If a vehicle has multiple defects and is heavily damage then it might take multiple repair cycles to fully restore. Because repairs are gradual, rotate damaged vehicles out of missions to allow repair cycles to complete.

Small HP losses stack up over time and can lead to defects or destruction later so repair as soon as you can before things get out of hand.
