The Mystery Man is a special NPC in Mewgenics who can be unlocked once you get access to the sewer pipe outside your house. He doesn’t appear right away which is why many players find it hard to figure out how to unlock this Mystery Man.
The weird Mystery Man has no name of his own and instead, creepily uses your Steam Account ID to name as his name.
Where to Find the Mystery Man
Play normally and complete at least one adventure. After this, the sewer pipe should appear outside your house on the world map.
The key requirement is to have your entire crew of cats die during a run. This means losing the run entirely so that all cats are defeated while out on adventure. When this happens, the Mystery Man will show up in the game’s ending sequence for that run.
After the wipe when you go back to the world map, you can see the Mystery Man’s icon on the map. Click his icon and complete the initial interaction with him to permanently unlock the Mystery Man in Mewgenics.
Once you have access to the Mystery Man, you can visit him in the Sewer pipes. You can send your dead cats to the Mystery Man and in return he will recover items you lost during failed runs or add rare items to his inventory as his upgrade level goes up.
Note: Some players report that simply losing a few cats isn’t enough. The unlock seems tied to an overall full wipe (all cats dead) rather than isolated deaths.
If you keep winning without any team wipes the Mystery Man will not appear in your game.
