Breeding is a big part of Mewgenics but over time you will have to keep track of your cat’s family tree aka ancestry to avoid inbreeding. Because if that happens your cats will start to look like the Orcs from The Lord of the Rings. The solution to this problem is the family tree; it is UI tool that reveals your cat’s full ancestry including lineage, parents, ancestors, and hidden relations to prevent birth defects, stat penalties, and ugly offspring.
Related parents produce kittens with lowered base stats, disorders, diseases, and hideous appearances, tanking combat performance. Trait inheritance is generational in Mewgenics. High base stats (e.g., Constitution 8) and mutations (+2 Strength/-1 Speed) pass down, but only with high Stimulation rooms.
So every now and then you need to introduce fresh cat DNA to the mix. The family tree gives you access to the inbred indicator, ancestor views (up to 7+ generations), and ties into Tink’s upgrades for icons/gaydar.
How to Unlock the Cat Family Tree
Tink is your upgrade dealer so you need to donate kittens (duds, retirees, or extras) to progress her tiers. The cat family tree unlocks at Tier 3 that is achieved when you donate 21 kittens too Tink.

Visit Tink outside your house and select a kitten to donate. Hover over the kitten and use the donate option that appears after the first litter. Select Tink from the NPC options and confirm to donate the kitten.
Where to See the Family Tree
Go to your House and left-click on any adult cat. Open the Bio Menu and look for the Family Tree icon to the left of your Cat;s portrait/image. The icon is a tree like symbol that reveals the genealogy details.
The tree is a visual pedigree chart on a striped wallpaper background. Straight Face = clean with no inbreeding, Frown = Slightly/Moderately inbred which should be avoided.
Avoid Inbreeding
To build a strong dynasty you need to introduce fresh blood with strays. High appeal rooms attract 1-2 strays/day and these should be bred into the lines first. Assign different icons to families and blood lines to keep them apart.
Using separate rooms is the best play to avoid inbreeding in Mewgenics.
