The latest installment in the Nioh franchise is out on PC and PS5. Nioh 3‘s PC version is is pretty stable with minimum issues but still, as I always say, make sure you know where your save files are.
If you’re playing on PC you should always find your save files to back up them up, especially if you plan to mod the game.
Where Is Nioh 3 Save File
| Client | Save File Location |
|---|---|
| Steam | C:\Users\ALI\AppData\Local\KoeiTecmo\NIOH3\Savedata\[Steam Numeric ID] |
Inside that folder, you’ll see one or more subfolders named after your Steam numeric ID (a long number). Your actual save files (like SAVEDATA.BIN, etc.) are inside that Steam-ID folder.
There is also an alternate method to finding the save files by directly accessing the main folder through Windows search bar feature on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Press Windows key + R.
- Paste this path: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/KoeiTecmo/NIOH3/Savedata
- Press Enter and explore the folder.
Copy the entire NIOH3 folder to a safe location (like a cloud drive or external folder) before big play sessions to avoid losing progress.
Nioh 3 comes with multiple saving slots as well so you can have different play throughs with separate builds. When you copy the Nioh 3 folder all save slots will come along including your story and multiplayer progression.
Steam Cloud vs Local Saves
- Steam Cloud is enabled by default for Nioh 3.
- Your local save is still the “source of truth.”
- If Steam detects a mismatch, it may ask whether to use local or cloud data.
In such case always go with local save files to restore backups.
