Resident Evil 9 Is Insanely Optimized for PS5 Pro Thanks to RE Engine

Resident Evil 9 Requiem is going to be one of the most optimized games to release on PS5 Pro. According to PlayStation, the game supports 4K resolution at 60 FPS with ray tracing on.

In a post on the Japanese PlayStation Blog, Resident Evil Requiem director Akifumi Nakanishi outlined how the game will perform on Sony’s enhanced console. Players with a PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy:

  • 4K at 60 FPS with ray tracing enabled, providing both high visual fidelity and smooth gameplay.
  • Up to 120 FPS if ray tracing is turned off, with an average around 90 FPS on compatible high-refresh-rate displays.

These performance modes aim to balance graphical quality and responsiveness, giving players more choice depending on their display and preferences.

Additional performance options are also said to be available. With ray tracing disabled, the game may support higher framerates above 60 FPS, potentially reaching up to 120 FPS on compatible displays.

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline entry in Capcom’s iconic franchise and is currently slated for a February 27, 2026 release on PC, Xbox, and PS5/PRO. The increase visual performance could make RE9 could make it one of the most impressive entries yet.

The use of Capcom’s RE Engine proved to be the right decision by Capcom despite a lot of the industry moving to Unreal Engine 5.
