Unlike other resources like Iron Ores, Gold is a bit confusing for people who want to mine it in Starsand Island. Gold is not a resource that is available to players during early game. It is a mid-to-late game resource that is tied to progression and exploration, and stronger tools.
Gold ore is locked behind progression. You cannot simply mine it with early tools like the Impulse Pickaxe, the game treats gold as a higher-tier resource. Gold is exclusive to an area called the Moonlight Forest and you start finding Gold Ores after you get to this area after defeating the Crystalith boss and progress through the next door in that area.
Where to Find and Mine Gold in Starsand Island
You need to craft the Impact Hammer which is the upgrade for the Impulse Pickaxe. For this you need to upgrade the Worktable II and the blueprint from Zerine’s General Store. The crafting recipe for the Impulse Pickaxe is as follow;
- 4 Iron Sheets
- 3 Bronze
- 4 Hardwood Planks
- 2 Radiant Crystals
- 1 Impulse Pickaxe

Once you have the hammer just wait until you reach near the Crystalith Hideout. This is where Yellow Gold Veins start too appear and then become common when you head deeper into the Moonlit Forest and this the forest where you can also catch the rare Glowfish.
Approach a Gold Vein and hit is with your Impulse Hammer to mine Gold Ores. If you plan to is to make Gold Ingots, craft a Furnace and use Coal with Gold to turn it into Gold Ingots. Coal is acquired using an Impact Hammer is early stages of Starsand Island.
What is Gold for in Starsand Island
Gold ore is used as a core ingredient in mid-to-late game crafting recipes, especially those that require multiple resource types to make advanced components or machines. For example, gold is part of the recipe for things like alloys, which in turn are used to create high-end devices (such as the Energy Converter). You must smelt gold ore into a gold ingot at a higher level furnace before it can be used in these recipes.
While gold ore itself has an inherent sell price if you choose to sell it at a shop (converted to coins), its value is considerably higher when processed and used in crafting.
