Climbing the mountain in Cairn is a pain but every now and then you can find Troglodyte Piton’s that can help because unlike regular pitons these don’t break. Troglodyte Pitons are special indestructible pitons hidden inside guardian statues.
They can be used as permanent anchors during your climb, they never break, unlike normal pitons. There are three Troglodyte Pitons Cairn:
- The third in The Secret
- The first in The Vault area
- The second below the Palace of Wind
The third Troglodyte Piton is the hardest to find as it is hidden inside a guardian statue in the optional section of the mountain called “The Secret.”
How To Find The Troglodyte Piton in Cairn
The region only becomes available once you have progressed at a certain point in the game, near the spires on the upper reaches. Unlike the other two Troglodyte Pitons that are off the main path, the third Troglodyte Piton is on the main path you take through The Secret so there is no backtracking.
The Secret area becomes accessible once you reach the point in the game where The Blades is no longer with you. Your character wakes up to see Marco gone in the night alone toward The Blades.
Keep climbing the mountain until you reach a point where the mountain splits into two peaks with a crack in between where you’ll be able to enter. If you climb the peak on the right side you can find Rody and Johana’s kite to get the Love Birds Achievements. But the kite is detour you can take, our goal is to enter between the two peaks.
As move along you will find the Hygrocybe Rubescens and if you do then the good is that you are on the right path.
Enter the bottom layer of the cave but move upward toward the top layer of the cave. You will find an opening in the rocks you can enter through and this opening will take you to a weird glowing green room where you find a mini Kami mountain you can climb to get an achivement.
However, the final Troglodyte Piton we looking for is on the left side. Approach the carved guardian statue to take the third piton.
When you get a Troglodyte Piton but you already have six normal pitons it will go into your backback. It won’t be equipped down at the bottom of your backpack. Unless a piton is among the hanging six you won’t be able to use it.
If you want to move the Troglodyte Piton to one of the six hanging pitons, highlight it in your backpack and press the Equip button and it will swap out with one of the hanging six pitons.
